I am originally from a very small town in the south of Chile, Dalcahue.
I studies biochemistry in the Austral University of Chile in Valdivia.
I enjoyed so much my times there and the stimulating work as an undergraduate that I entered graduate school in the same University.

I moved to Santiago, the capital of Chile where I developed my graduate project and sedimented my passion for the study of the biology of the brain and neuronal function.

I found my way to Yale University where I had the opportunity to make a productive career that made me an expert in alpha-synuclein. I keep researching this protein in hopes to find clues that can use to generate new therapies for Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.

I enjoy my free time skiing, dancing tango and hiking.
